Saul Raisin's Interview, February
19th, 2007
Saul Raisin, the Crédit
Agricole American rider is a living miracle.
The victim of a heavy fall last year on the
Sarthe Circuit (April 4th, 2004), he was operated
on for a cerebral edema and fell into a coma.
After having looked death in the eye, his thirst
for life and enthusiasm has increased tenfold.
Today, Saul has a wider horizon. He trains.
He enjoys the pleasure of rediscovered thrills.
Given that his aim is to return to competition
before the end of the year, Saul is, as from
now, a committed man. He as formed an association
to assist victims of cranial trauma, and will
be organizing a large « Saul Hope Ride
» (1), a cyclotourist gathering where
he lives, in Georgia, at the end of March.
Whilst waiting for this meeting which is very
dear to him, he is taking part this week in
the Tour of California. Saul is not there as
a competitor, but to rediscover the atmosphere
of competition. Every day, he will leave one
or two hours before the squad and ride the same
stage at his own rhythm, and above all with
exceptional enthusiasm.
